Ernsts Gliks’ Alūksne State Secondary School Environmental Graphics and Wayfinding
The teaching environment at Ernsts Gliks’ Alūksne State Secondary School is enhanced by drawings that are simultaneously open questions. Their goal is to stimulate independent thinking, inspire awareness of the district’s heritage, and display pride in the identity of the Malēnieši (the inhabitants of north-eastern Vidzeme). The contents of the graphics are designed in synch with teaching subjects taught at the school and are arranged alternately, forming an informal and free environment. Whiteboard film forms are positioned next to offices and elsewhere around the school and can be dynamically enhanced and personified. Laconic navigation signs help staff, pupils and visitors to find what they are looking for.
