Red Terror Museum is a unique place where history inspires visitors to reflect on contemporary issues. They walk along elevated paths and tunnels and do not come into contact with protected buildings, leaving them with an unsettling sense of estrangement. The building has been minimally affected by new function/museum and remains unaltered. What was here – must remain. The 2^nd prize in the international contest for the exhibition design concept together with the interactive media solutions’ company “Gagarin” and architects from the “Tvíhorf arkitektar”.

Jury comment:
“The author has made sense of the building in such a way that both old and new would function side by side. This applies within the building, where authors see completely unrenovated rooms above which visitors seem to float on purpose-built passageways, alongside rooms designed in a contemporary fashion. The ideas for the exhibition are very well thought out and their implementation is innovative.”
